Our Events.

Current Events

We’re in a bit of an odd situation at the moment and we’re not entirely sure what we’re doing… this is partly due to mental health and partly due to general uncertainty around our premises. We’re doing our best to get back on our feet and have managed to get one or to events out but we really do need a hand.

During lockdown we’ve lost basically our entire volunteering team due to people moving on having graduated as the vast majority of our volunteers were students. Please, get involved 🙂

As we look to the future (read more below) we are hoping to diversify, previously it was not possible for us to run public events however this situation has now changed and we are looking to expand beyond our current student and bass music focused offerings.

Bass In The Woods

Drum and Bass, House, Techno, Hardcore, Bands… we’ve got a vibe like no other and it’s all about meeting new people and having fun in a safe and friendly environment. We came up with this concept on a sunny day, a group of us sat in the garden with a white board and partied… every time we wanted something, we wrote it on the whiteboard… what ended up on this whiteboard was things like ice cream, beer, lollipops, pizza, bean bags, picnic benches… and so the concept was born, we would create an event which involved bass music, ice cream, pizza, bean bags and picnic benches with a focus on the vibe and giving new DJ’s a chance to play in front of a crowd in a relaxed and safe environment.

Bass In The Woods is a student only event with a focus on bass music. It’s not strictly electronic music and in the past we have had analogue performers including circus and bands. We began in 2018 with the help of Swansea University DJ Society which had just been established and almost every event has sold out since we launched.

Every event has seen a different venue layout and have ranged from 30 attending the first edition to 500 attending our largest. It is held in a mixture of marquees and an old farmhouse with many areas for you to chill out.

The events are daytime and generally run from around 3pm until 10 or 11pm.

Rum and Bass

Imagine sun, cocktails, DJ’s and generally chilling in the garden and maybe have a little boogie… that’s the concept of Rum and Bass. Summer vibes only! Come along and meet new people… when social distancing is in effect we have tech planned for our next one to ensure you can all stay connected.

There has only been one edition of Rum and Bass although we invested heavily including building a road, and had many more planned… but unfortunately primarily due to mental health… things didn’t go as planned and we only managed to run one event.

We hope to bring rum and bass back once it warms up a little.

Future Events

We are looking for volunteers to help with new events, if you’d like to be involved please let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Drink Festivals

Beer, Cider, Prosecco, Rum, Gin… you name it, we’d like to host it!

These will be held throughout the year once we’ve figured out the logistics and have a team on board to run them. If you’d like to get involved please head to either our jobs or volunteering page.

RAW Base

RAW Base will be a hard event including Hardstyle, Rawstyle and Hardcore music. It will be a first of its kind in South Wales and the West and will be following the examples set by the huge hard festivals found in Europe. Register at www.rawbase.co.uk to be kept up to date.

Pickledmix

When we are able to launch, pickledmix will include a mix of all styles of music and we will be aiming to create a fun and energetic atmosphere… expect the unexpected, and drinks deals!

If you’d like to help us get this off the ground, please get in touch! We are especially looking for a cross-genre DJ who’s used to working energetic crowds. We’re also looking for an energetic, traditional master of ceremonies… we know who we’re looking for we just can’t put it in to words. If you think you have what it takes get in touch.

A little history: Pickledmix almost launched in 2020, the venue we were working with gave us the green light to set up, we purchased all the necessary equipment, applied for the necessary licensing, wrote the supporting documentation and once we were ready, were then told that we could no longer go ahead and we were left more than £2,000 out of pocket.

Techno In The Woods

See the past events section below for more information.

Techno In The Woods will hopefully be returning soon!

Past Events

Techno In The Woods

Techno In The Woods was our first in-house public event and was held in June 2017. Techno is the name of the game and two areas ran at our first edition – indoor we had old school acid / hard tek and outdoor we had tech house and other such sub-genres. DJ’s were a mixture of local artists and others from the free-party scene.

At the time, Facebook was riddled with fake events which looked really cool and we fell victim to this. We’d decided to make the location secret to minimise the risk and only released the details 24 hours before the event… we received several calls, messages, comments and emails suggesting that it was fake… this was probably a blessing in disguise as the result was a wonderful bunch of open minded people attending and more than half that attended messaged us after the event letting us know how much they enjoyed it.

Party In The Woods

More than 60 editions of Party In The Woods were held, all of which were private events to a closed group. These events enabled us to get our venue up to the standard which would be necessary to run public events and generally spanned multiple days. Most events began in JC’s at Swansea University before moving to the venue once everyone had arrived and would go on late in to the early hours.

Party games, DJ’s, or just general chat. Anywhere between 10 and 80 would normally attend, some were 2 man parties but were by no means any less mighty than the bigger ones!
